UK & European stocks closed higher.
Wall Street stocks were
sharply higher as traders digested last month's all-important
jobs report.
Gold prices rose,
rebounding from profit-taking during the previous session, as the U.S. dollar
weakened after data showed that U.S. job growth slowed sharply in October.
Oil prices extended gains,
climbing more than $1 a barrel to pare weekly losses, as geopolitical tensions
in the Middle East rose following reports that Iran was preparing a retaliatory
strike on Israel from Iraq in the coming days.
In corporate news, Reckitt
Benckiser surged to the top of the FTSE 100 after its
subsidiary Mead Johnson was cleared of liability in a US trial investigating
whether it - and Abbott
- hid bowel disease risks associated with premature-baby formula.
