UK and European stocks closed higher at the start of a busy a week of key data releases and central bank decisions.

US stocks wobbled as investors kicked off a big week that will see a fresh inflation data test for rate-cut views and the start of first-quarter earnings season.

US crude oil futures fell after Israel reduced its troop presence in Gaza.

Gold prices were flat.

In corporate news, Entain rallied following a report in The Times that private equity firm Apollo could be interested in making a takeover offer for some or all of the business.
