& European stocks were opened more or less flatafter US markets were closed for Thanksgiving,
and with little in the way of corporate or economic news to provide any
direction.
Shares in the Asia-Pacific
were mostly lower.
Oil muted
as price cap proposal eases supply concerns.
Gold prices steadied,
en route to a weekly gain, buoyed by the dollar's retreat on a perceived dovish
tilt in the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate hike strategy.
In corporate news, energy utilitySSEsaid it was selling a 25% stake in its electricity transmission
network business to Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board for £1.46bn.
The company said the deal would "unlock significant growth in both the
transmission business and across the wider SSE group".
