The 2022 Isle of Man Art Society
Easter Exhibition took place over the Easter weekend in the lovely setting of
the Villa Marina Arcade. The stylish art-deco architecture added a fine
backdrop to this year's display, with over 90 local artists exhibiting their
work.
The Guest of Honour at a private
opening event hosted by Ramsey Crookall on Thursday the 14th of April was the
Island's Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer. In his capacity as Patron of
the Isle of Man Art Society, he formally opened the exhibition and was ably
supported by the President of the Isle of Man Art Society, David Sayle, and
David Harding, Managing Director of Ramsey Crookall.
This year's exhibition presented
an opportunity for the Art Society to celebrate and support the Isle of Man
UNESCO Biosphere status, granted in 2016, by hosting a diversity of artworks
with themes relating to the Island's natural beauty, its rich culture, and
sustainability.
On show were over 300 exhibits
by artists from across the Island, providing a lovely mix of styles and
subjects, with paintings, drawings, collages, jewellery, and sculpture all
represented.
Most of the art pieces displayed
were available for purchase, and business was brisk as patrons moved quickly to
snap up the works of their choice.
