and European stocks opened higherwith investors around the world reflecting on the latest inflation data
and earnings out of the U.S.
Asia-Pacific stocks were
higher as investors reacted to the release of China’s inflation
data for September.
Oil prices rose
on expectations that high natural gas prices as winter approaches may drive a
switch to oil to meet heating demand needs.
Gold prices hovered near a
one-month peak as the dollar and longer-dated Treasury yields
retreated from recent highs following hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data.
In corporate news, private property rental company Graingerreported a
rebound in performance in the second half of its fiscal year, with lettings at
94% as Covid restrictions were lifted.
