later in the day.
Shares in Asia-Pacific
rose, as investors looked ahead to an upcoming release of U.S.
inflation data for May.
Oil priced lower as
inventory data in the United States showed a surge in gasoline stocks that
indicates weaker-than-expected fuel demand at the start of summer, the
country’s peak season for motoring.
Gold prices were subdued,
weighed down by a firmer U.S. dollar.
In corporate news, a dramatic shift to buying cars online during pandemic
lockdowns helped Auto
Traderlimit full-year losses and reinstate its dividend.
Altice UK, a company owned by Patrick Drahi, has bought a 12.1% shareholding inBT Group PLC, but
doesn't plan to make an offer for the U.K. telecommunications company.
