& European stocks closed up in the afternoon trade.
Wall Street stocks were
higherearly on following a solid session for the Dow Jones on
Thursday.
Gold and silver prices
retreatedfrom record highs but were positioned for weekly
gains on growing anticipation of another bumper U.S. interest rate cut this
year.
U.S. crude oil
was on pace for its first weekly loss in three weeks, as the prospect of
growing oil supplies from Saudi Arabia overshadowed China’s efforts to
stimulate its economy.
Prudential
jumped to the top of the index as it announced its expansion further into South
East Asia through a strategic partnership with Bank Syariah Indonesia.
Through PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance, Prudential will from early 2025
become the Syariah life insurance provider of Bank Syariah Indonesia, the
country's sixth largest bank and the largest Syariah bank by assets.
BSI has more than 20m customers and 1,000 bank branches across the country.
The Asia-focused insurer has gained sharply this week, lifted by news of
China’s stimulus measures.
