& European markets opened negative as investors gear up for the latest U.S.
inflation data for August set to be released later today.
Asia-Pacific markets fell as
investors assess key economic data out of Japan and South Korea.
Oil prices edged
higher, hovering at a new 10-month high hit the previous day,
as expectations of tighter global supply and fears of supply disruption in
Libya outweighed concerns of slower demand in some countries such as China.
Gold priced lower.
In corporate news, investors were digesting news that BP chief executive
Bernard Looney has resigned after failing to fully disclose details of past
relationships with colleagues.
Chief financial officer Murray Auchincloss will act as CEO on an interim basis.
