U.K. and European markets climbed as investors
continue to assess the trajectory of monetary policy after some tough
statements from U.S. Federal Reserve officials.
Shares in the Asia-Pacific traded mixed as Japan’s core consumer price index for October rose 3.6% compared to a year ago, higher than expected and at the fastest pace in 40 years.
Oil prices rose as the dollar slipped.
Gold prices edged up on a pullback in the dollar.
In corporate news, DS Smith said it has appointed Richard Pike, the chief financial officer of waste management company Biffa, as its new group finance director.
