Sales of second-hand electric cars have hit a record high even as the overall market shrinks.

Pre-owned chargeable vehicles sales rose 44.1% to 16,775 in the third quarter, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

The sharp jump came even as overall second hand car sales fell by more than a tenth, as fewer cars were put on sale.

U.K. and European markets jumped after October’s reading of U.S. consumer prices offered hope that inflation stateside has peaked.

U.S. stocks saw outsized gains as Wall Street cheered lighter-than-expected inflation data and monitored midterm election tallies.

Oil prices rose.

Gold priced higher as the dollar fell.
