UK
and European stocks opened lower, continuing the regional trend downward this week.
Asia markets mostly rose
as geopolitical tensions rose over U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to
Taiwan.
Oil prices fell about 1%
on fears of OPEC+ producers that a slowdown in global growth will be hitting
fuel demand.
Gold priced higher.
In corporate news,house
builder Taylor Wimpey said
it expected full-year profits to be at the upper end of forecasts as it
reported a rise in interim earnings, driven by strong selling prices.
The company said pre-tax profits rose 16.3% to £334.5m.
